Rex Essential Plus Serial
Well you've installed it but you seem to have missed a step. You should have a 'Rex Soft Clouds' shortcut on your Desktop or in your Start Menu. You need to run (right click and 'run as administrator') that and then you can choose one of a set of 16 clouds to install in to FSX. There should be a link to the manual too which I highly recommend you read to make sure you have the correct settings in FSX. Post back if you have any other problems.
You'll know when it's working because the clouds look lovely:). Originally posted by:Well you've installed it but you seem to have missed a step. So i can only use one or the other many thanks. You can start FSX from both but you don't have to start FSX from either. What I do is run Softclouds to add the clouds I want then when it asked to start FSX you can just cancel that window - it'll still leave the cloud textures you picked installed. I can then run REX essentials with the cloud options unticked so it doesn't overwrite the Soft clouds and use that to choose new sky textures or runways or whatever and then run the REX weather engine. You get the REX weather then but it keep the soft clouds.

As I said above I wrote on the forum REX waiting for a reply for 4 days of hope is to live. Yes I had that email too, what's free is the tool that integrates REX 4 with Soft clouds. They are two different payware products. It's not a scam or anything.
The email you had just says if you own both products you can download a free tool that makes them work together. Soft clouds costs about 10 dollars or so. Edit: The FREE utility provides users of both REX4 Texture Direct and REX Soft Clouds the benefit of integrating the two packages into one complete package!
Apr 26, 2013 It was released a couple days ago, thought it might have been buried by the MJC Dash 8 release. REX Essential PLUS and REX Essential PLUS. Our vision of flight simulation and REX for 2017 and beyond. Hello Everyone – We are very excited for what looks to be a banner year in the simulation industry.
Customers of both REX4 Texture Direct and REX Soft Clouds may download and install the package for free via the REX support forum. You must own a valid copy of BOTH programs in order to install. Verification required! About REX4 Texture Direct REX4 Texture Direct is the newest environment add-on application from award-winning REX Game Studios. About REX Soft Clouds REX Soft Clouds is the new volumetric-like soft cloud texture add-on for FSX, PREPAR3D and FSX:Steam Edition. Emphasis added. Originally posted by:Thanks. I selected texture pack 1 - it looks similar so it must be working.
It's really when you start to fly through the soft clouds that the benefit of installing them comes apparent. Overcast conditions look a lot better imo and the effect of flying close to and through the clouds is much more convincing. If you try a few clouds sets with that weather theme you can get a better idea of how they compare to each other than by looking at the thumbnails in the REX app. Some of these things as well, it's a bit like going from DVD to Blueray, you only really notice how good the upgrade is when you go back to what you had and realise you can't stand it anymore - I made a mistake with REX the other day and replaced the installed soft clouds by accident and it was quite jarring when the flight loaded.
I lasted about 5 seconds then quit out to fix it. In regards to installing REX Soft Clouds, I had already done several of the things you suggested i.e. Rex Soft Clouds icon is on the desk top, along with the Rex Soft cloud manual (which I read thoroughly).
As I mentioned, I installed the program on my C drive in a seperate folder (as indicated in the manual), naming the directory: program files(x86) steam steamapps common FSX. When I click on the desktop icon I select one of the cloud choices (1-16) and click install. Then it asks me if I want to start FSX, which I answer yes.
When I'm in, I still do not see what clouds have been installed. I don't think they made it into FSX SE. I wish I knew what it is that I'm doing wrong, if that's the case.
I'm going to try your example of setting the 'cold fronts' weather theme. I appreciate your advice - thanks for your help. The texture installation is instant with soft clouds.
You'd almost think nothhing had happened. As well as installing Soft clouds outside of the programs folder, I have C: games REX, it's also important to right click the REX shortcut and select 'run as administrator'. Especially as you have FSX installed inside the Program Files directory. I think the above weather theme is the best to test with as you'll get the same weater all the time and it does actually put up some interesting cloud formations unlike most of the other themes. 'I am Loving it!' I just want to congratulate and thank the folks at REX for creating such an awesome weather product, REX4 Weather Architect. Weather Architect has helped me create great IFR weather within the simulator.
With this I can simply create ANY weather at ANY location, worldwide. The best part is that even though there was such dense cloud and fog depiction within the weather I created, the frame rates kept steady at 30 FPS in spite of flying the heavy jetliners like PMDG.
I never saw this with any other product. The flight was smooth with no hiccups throughout the experience. Pankaj Dekat - via AVSIM/REX forums.
'Customer For Life.' It's rare that I write to a company directly, but I'm so impressed with Soft Clouds addition to my REX4 Texture Direct that I felt compelled to thank you personally. You clearly HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK! I have been a REX user since FS2004 and have never looked back. Superlatives come to mind, but fall short of what I just experienced flying from KNYL to KONT. It just has to be experienced to understand!
Thank you and your team sincerely for your hard work, great contribution towards providing a very realistic experience, and the delivery of nothing short of an absolutely fantastic product! Don Thomson - via REX E-mail. Controllermate Serial 4.6.
'Improved quality, realism & variety.' Their realistic changes to the skies can make the world feel more alive than ever before. For any pilot looking to get the most realism possible to help benefit their training within a simulation environment this is for you.
It will help make the skies both more challenging and more attractive to fly in, and means that when you do come into contact with your first real-world weather storm you will know roughly what to expect when it starts! Use for more realism and for a more comprehensive and engaging training program. Ian Stephens - via Fly Away Simulations.
